To receive EasyCancel Certified status, a subscription service must meet every requirement below. No weighted scores. No pay-to-pass.
The subscription must be cancellable entirely online.
The customer cannot be required to call customer service.
An automated email may be used only to verify identity during sign-in. Cancellation itself cannot require emailing support, clicking an emailed cancellation link or waiting for a human response.
The customer must be able to initiate and complete cancellation at any time.
From the authenticated account area, cancellation should be accessible through approximately three primary navigation actions or fewer. The option must not be intentionally hidden.
A normal authenticated customer must be able to complete cancellation in less than 60 seconds under normal conditions.
The service must clearly confirm that cancellation has been completed.
The next automatic renewal must be stopped once cancellation is confirmed.
The test clock
The test begins once the customer is authenticated and starts navigating toward subscription management. Opening a browser, typing the URL, signing in and completing an automated identity-verification step are not counted.
Methodology
Conditional status
If a certified company changes its cancellation process and no longer meets the standard, its status may be suspended or revoked. It must remove the seal if authorization is withdrawn.
